Hello, my name is Richard. This site is dedicated to a fallen flag, the Southern Pacific Railroad. Having grown up, literally, right next to the old historic Siskiyou line, once the main link between the thriving and exciting gold country of California, and the wild and growing Pacific Northwest, it's no surprise I'm a big SP fan.
Tunnel 13 is located at the summit of the former Southern Pacific RR's Siskiyou line, high in the Siskiyou Mountains, which at 3.68%, is the steepest grade in all of the Southern Pacific lines. I thought that "tunnel13.com" had a good sound to it so I picked that for my domain name. For more history and news of the Siskiyou line, including "The Last Great Train Robbery of the West" check out my History pages.
If it's Prototype Railroading you like, please look at my page's with Union Pacific in Dunsmuir Calif, including the 4-6-6-4 Challenger #3895, or one of my Central Oregon and Pacific RR pages, now running on the Siskiyou line north of Ashland, OR, and there is the former Yreka Western, a short line and tour line connected with the Siskiyou Line in Montague, CA. and the former WCTU, White City Terminal Utility RR, a branch line in White City, OR.
You can also check out Model Railroading, featuring my own former layout, the SP's Newberg Branch in N scale, as well as a local model club, the Rogue Valley Model RR Club. The club is located at the Medford Railroad Park. The Park also hosts the Southern Oregon Live Steamers Club, with fun for the whole family. Look in on the latest restoration efforts of the old MEDCO #4 Willamette steam locomotive. Please enjoy my site
