The Cape Arago Lighthouse sits just southwest of Charleston at the mouth of Coos Bay. The current structure was built in 1934. There were two earlier lighthouses on this site, 1908 and 1866.

You cannot get very close to this lighthouse because it sits on Coast Guard property but you can get a nice view from a lookout just south of Sunset Beach. You can also hear the wonderful foghorn from this vantage point.

If you are lucky enough to have very little traffic and clear weather you might catch a glimpse of this light, between the houses, as you drive by.
